Amber Riley on The Talk

Sharon: We want to welcome the beautiful Ms. Amber Riley to the show

Audience:-applause-

Amber: -laughing- awww, well thank you-smiles-

Sara: how are you, what have you been up to since Glee?

Amber: Well I’ve been working on my new album, and talking to some television producers who want to do a spinoff from Glee, but only following my character Mercedes to New York. It’s tentatively called Have Mercy-laughs- 

Sharon: That sounds exciting, but I’ve also heard that something else very exciting happened in your life very recently between you and your boyfriend Chord.

-picture of Chord and Amber show up on the screen-

Amber: -looks down smiling- Yes, we have had some exciting stuff happen and we bought a dog

Sheryl:-smiling- come on girl you know you have to spill

Amber:-laughing, throws her hands up in defeat- okay okay! We go engaged -laughing-

Sharon: how did he do it? what did you guys do?

Amber: Well we were at my place just relaxing, when he said he wanted to go to the aquarium because we hadn’t been there for so long, and I LOVE fish so I didn’t question it, I was like let’s go right now. He laughed and said no let’s go later this evening, and I looked at him and said “watchu talkin bout Chord, you know the aquarium closes at four on Satudays.” He said they had extended the hours for a new fish they had brought in, again I didn’t question it-laughs- I was just excited we were going. Anyways, he told me to wear an extremely nice dress because this was a fancy event for the unveiling of the new fish, so I’m thinking this fish must be made out of gold or something, like why was it so important, but I wore a nice summery dress with a little sweater and he wore a black suit with no tie.

So we get there, and there are quite a bit of people all dressed up, and waiters serving appetizers and stuff, so Chord and I were just joking around and then this little boy, about 6 years old wearing a tuxedo comes up to me. He tugs on my skirt and says, “you are the most beautiful woman in the room, you can make a diamond look like coal in comparison to you” and then he hands me a white rose that he was holding behind his back and walks away. So I’m like what in the hell was that, I turn to look at Chord and he looks just as confused, in like two minutes another little boy wearing a tux with a purple tie comes up to me and says, “You are the most amazing, kind, and generous person I have ever had the pleasure of knowing” hands me another rose and then walks away. At this point, Chords like do you have a stalker or something? this is really weird, so I start getting freaked out-laughs- and then a third little boy wearing a tux, again, comes up to me and says, “I love you because…” and then he just stops talking, and looks like he’s trying to remember what he’s saying and everyone in the room is looking at us.

Chord then takes my hands-looks up trying not to cry- and he says. “I love you because you are everything I could and have ever imagined for my best friend, my lover, and my soul mate. From the day I laid eyes on you, I couldn’t think of anyone else I wanted to see and talk to for the rest of my life, Amber…”, and then he turns his head to look at the fish in the aquarium, and I’m thinking what, Amber what? and I turn my head to the left and I see a man in the tank with the fish holding up a “will you marry me sign.” Sometime during all of this Chord gets on his knee, I immediately start bawling my eyes out, and I’m like yes yes! times a million, he gives me this huge hug and kiss and takes the ring out of his pocket. My family comes out from behind the random people we saw walking around, which I later found out were extras! -laughs-It was so romantic and amazing, and I’ve never been that happy before-huge smile-

Sharon: That is so beautiful, well you guys are going to have some very cute kids, come on look at this face-pinches Amber’s cheek- how could she not?

Amber:-laughing- no no, we’re not even married yet -laughs- one step at a time

Julie: we are so excited for you two and we wish you all the best, thank you Amber for joining us
